La versión en CD de la banda sonora del documental Janis Joplin: Little Girl Blue estará disponible, a través de Columbia / Legacy, el 4 de marzo.
En la cinta, la documentalista nominada al Oscar Amy Berg examina el meteórico ascenso y la caída de una de las cantantes más reverenciadas e icónicas del rock ‘n’ roll de todos los tiempos, a través de imágenes de archivo, entrevistas reveladoras con amigos y familiares y cartas personales- muchas de ellas hechas públicas por primera vez-que presenta un retrato íntimo y profundo de un brillante artista, que cambió la música para siempre.
La banda sonora de Janis: Little Girl Blue (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), incluye canciones de su carrera en solitario y con Big Brother & the Holding Company. El disco incluye una versión inédita de Piece of my heart, que se incluye en el documental y grabada en directo en el Generation Club de Nueva York en abril de 1968.
Janis: Little Girl Blue (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) incluye además una primera grabación de Janis Joplin cantando Careless Love de Lead Belly; actuaciones en directo con l Big Brother & The Holding Company (de Avalon Ballroom en San Francisco, el Monterey Pop Festival, Generation Club de New York City o el Grande Ballroom de Detroit); the Kozmic Blues Band (Frankfurt, West Germany, 12 de abril, 1969); Janis en directo en Woodstock Music & Art Fair (17 de agosto de 1969) y en el Festival Express Tour (4 de julio de 1970).
