Las grabaciones perdidas de Beatles, Beach Boys y Bob Dylan ven la luz

Tras el cambio de la normativa europea, la protección legal sobre las canciones se ha ampliado el plazo de 50 años a los 70, pero solamente a las grabaciones ya publicadas a partir de 1963, por lo que un todo un álbum clásico como Love me do estaría protegido, pero canciones de The Beatles del mismo año que no hubiesen visto la luz carecerían de dicha protección, y pasarían a dominio público.

Discos de Rarezas Beatles, Dylan, Beach Boys

Por ello gran parte de los sellos están apurando el tiempo para publicar discos de rarezas de todos sus grandes artistas antes de que se termine el plazo -final de año- para poder seguir beneficiándose de esa protección, con todas aquellas grabaciones que nunca editaron.

Muchos de estas ediciones son casi testimoniales, de pocas copias, ya que no se trata de publicaciones promocionadas por los propios autores, sino  impuestas por los sellos para salvar la protección legal, como hizo Motown el pasado año con nada menos que cuatro secciones de discos de Motown Unreleased 1962: Girls, Boys (editado solo el primer volumen), Jazz y Gospel o el sello Capitol con Bob Dylan Copyright Extension Collection (2012).

Así, en los últimos días de diciembre nos encontraremos publicaciones como The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963, que incluyen 59 tracks, outtakes y grabaciones de la BBC del cuarteto de Liverpool, por parte de Universal, The Big Beat 1963 con rarezas de Beach Boys y demos de Brian Wilson, por parte de Capitol/Columbia, o The 50th Anniversary Collection 1963 que Sony/Legacy acaba de publicar sobre Dylan.
