El homenaje discográfico a Shane MacGowan ya tiene forma definitiva. Tras conocerse en marzo la existencia del proyecto, se ha hecho pública la lista completa de canciones: 36 versiones del cancionero del líder de The Pogues, tanto de su etapa con la banda como en solitario, interpretadas por un elenco que combina estrellas internacionales, la escena irlandesa actual y algún nombre inesperado.
Entre los contribuyentes de mayor peso figuran Bruce Springsteen, que versiona A Rainy Night in Soho; U2, con Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah; Tom Waits, que se encarga de Summer in Siam; y The Jesus and Mary Chain, con su lectura de I’ll Be Your Handbag. También aparecen Primal Scream (A Pair of Brown Eyes), Steve Earle (If I Should Fall From Grace With God), Dropkick Murphys (The Body of an American) y Glen Hansard (Bottle of Smoke). El tramo más curioso del reparto lo ponen Johnny Depp, junto a Imelda May, con su versión de Haunted, y la modelo Kate Moss, que firma Lonesome Highway. Completan la nómina nombres del indie y el folk irlandés como The Libertines, Picture This, Hozier junto a Jessie Buckley en Fairytale of New York, Damien Dempsey, Lisa O’Neill, David Keenan, Moya Brennan, Bob Geldof o Camille O’Sullivan.
El proyecto arranca oficialmente el viernes 31 de julio con el lanzamiento del primer single: la versión de Kingfishr de The Sunnyside of the Street, tema incluido originalmente en Hell’s Ditch (1990), el último disco de estudio de The Pogues antes del regreso de MacGowan a la banda en los 2000.
